Founded in 1899 by Edward Everett Hollister and joined by Frank H. Whitney in 1906, the original company built and installed hydraulic elevators. Today, the company specializes in parts for the more sophisticated “traction” or cable elevators and markets them through elevator contractors throughout the world. Elevators at Walt Disney World, Caesars Palace, the Library of Congress and your local department store all have products built by Hollister-Whitney Elevator Company.
